Car clay modeling is one of the old designing processes as a journey to create a car before it hits the road. The purpose of this process is to make sure every detail is right with real-world proportions. This method is still using human’s energy because despite how much faster computers have made carving the entire cars, there is one area where human still have an advantage which is finesse. A millimeter can sometimes be needed to change a detail on the body of a car. Beside the machine, human hold the important key to feel the proportional design of the car.
This was a group project to make a car clay model in 1: 5 scale with 3 months of the due date in 2020. We decided to make a car from BMW brand, which was BMW I8. We chose it because this car was challenging with many magnificent curves to build. Especially with rear spoilers at the back side panel of the car.

 DEVELOPMENT
In the development, there were steps we have to follow, such as:  Dimension reference for design finalization, Building an armature, Clay forming which is start from base shape; basic forming; and detailing.
